How did you use media technologies in construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

We made our story board by creating pictures on an iPhone and then editing it on Adobe so that in the end we had a short movie which was an effective way of making a story board and was also a lot easier. We also found different videos online of how to do special effects makeup and uploaded them to our blog page, this was a good way of doing it because this way, ourselves and the audience were able to watch and engage step by step.

What software was used?

during our research and planning, we mainly used Adobe Premier Elements 10, When it came to uploading our videos to YouTube, I found this very easy and straightforward because I already knew how to work YouTube and how to edit and upload stuff. When editing our film we used a software called Adobe Premiere Elements 10 which is a software I was not familiar with and I find it difficult to get my head around how it works. 

What equipment was used ?

When making our film, we used a tripod, iPhone, different camera lenses for the iPhone and a small microphone that clipped onto the character that was speaking so that it was clear and every sound was picked up when filming for our opening two minutes.

What were the technical pros and cons of the software and hardware ?

What took the most time was trying to figure out which tool to use and what it would be most effective for. Sometimes the software would freeze and crash out which meant we missed some things out when it came to putting it down to perfection and ensuring that we hadn't lost any footage.

In what ways was technology used to create the production?

The technology that we used to put together our film/ production was an iPhone and a computer, without this we wouldn't have been able to edit our film or record any footage. With the technology that we have today we were able to cut and edit our film to make it more effective  

In what ways did the technology constrain or enable the production to be developed?

We were able to better our film using technology by cutting parts of the footage that we didn't need out and because the genre of our film was horror, we were also able to put an effect on the footage to set the mood. The only problems we had with Adobe was that it often froze which meant we were unable to continue editing it and it also did not save the changes we had made which meant sometimes we had to redo some of the work.
